Diversa Aquarium Heater Thermoplus
Diversa Aquarium heater in good quality, inexpensive, Made in Europe
Most fish that are kept in our aquariums come from tropical and subtropical waters and usually have a feel-good temperature between 24-28 ° C and this water temperature should also be kept stable. Contrary to a well-known German manufacturer, we do not claim that the temperature is kept within +/- 0.5 ° C (which is demonstrably not the case with this manufacturer).
Realistic and also verifiable is the specified control accuracy of +/- 1 ° C.
- Control accuracy ± 1 ° C
- Temperature range 18-35°C
- The heat is kept constant
- Indicator light indicates the heating function
- Fully submersible (waterproof)
- Special quartz glass cladding
- Comfort cable length approx. 170 cm
- Including double suction holder
- 6 sizes for aquariums from 20 to 1000 liters
- Suitable for fresh and sea water
The cost-effective solution if the premium products are not necessary. Despite favorable price, the temperature is regulated in the range +/- 1 ° C of the set value. Entegen our premium heater, these heating rods are calibrated only once. Therefore, you should check the set temperature, if this also reaches the desired temperature.
Which heaters for how many liters of aquarium?
Now Eheim claims to heat a 1000L aquarium with a 300W heater. Personally, I can only smile slightly, because this is a big overstatement. Somehow, Eheim forget that there are many factors that affect the performance. The four big factors are
- Ambient temparatur
- Temparatur Delta (temperature difference environment -> water - say how much do you want to heat the water)
- LED, T5 or T8 lighting
- Open / Closed tank
It should be clear to everyone, that as colder the ambient temperature is, and thus the temperature delta, the more power is needed to heat the same amount of water.
Oh, yes, the lighting also makes a difference, because the lighting has certainly also warmed the water a bit. This must be applied, with LED lighting installed, from the aquarium heater, as LED have no or a small heat radiation.
Not least, of course, a closed aquarium keeps the heat a little better, like an open one. What is a blessing in the cold season is a curse in the summer, as overheating can certainly arise with T5 / T8 bulbs
Heater calculation
To heat 1 liter of water by 1 ° C you need 0.00116111 kWh so 1.16Watt has to heat for one hour. At 100L in the tank, this would be 116W for an hour and this in optimal condition without loss of performance and no heat loss to the environment (which is insignificant).
If you ask yourself, how Eheim comes up with the crazy idea of 300W for a 600-1000L aquarium. Somebody did not pay attention in physics. In the control accuracy of +/- 0.5 ° C would be in a 600L tank, still almost 700W for one hour what is needed to turn on and off (control points) and that as already said without other losses or if the ambient temperature so to speak at the target temperature is (eg 25 ° C) and thus little loss goes to the environment (of course, each aquarium ever warmed with the shack).
Therefore, we find the information from Eheim side very borderline and you could almost say it is a customer delusion.
Honest manufacturers such as Diversa or Aquarium Systems therefore give completely different values, which are also to be carried out and also more in accordance with reality
