NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+ - Calcium preparation with minerals for all reptiles and amphibians
NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+ is a highly effective calcium preparation with minerals, enriched with trace elements without vitamin D3 for the prevention and compensation of calcium deficiency and its secondary diseases. It supports the optimal development and maintenance of the skeleton and promotes healthy calcium metabolism in reptiles and amphibians. NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+ does not contain vitamin D3 and has been specially developed for animals that are supplied with sufficient UVB light or free-living animals with sufficient sun exposure (approx. 10 hours). These animals can produce their own vitamin D and therefore do not need any extra vitamin D3 in the product.
Otherwise our NEKTON-Rep Calcium+D3 is recommended.
Reptiles and amphibians need less food than mammals because they have a relatively low energy requirement. It is therefore more important that the food contains all the necessary nutrients. This also includes minerals and trace elements. These substances must be added to high-quality food.
Storage:
NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+ should be stored in a dry place away from sunlight, between 15 °C and 25 °C.

Recommendation:
Disinfect drinking vessels and feed containers daily with NEKTON-Desi-Care or F10 to ensure hygienic feeding!
0.25 g NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+ per kg body weight daily, or 1.5 g once a week.
Not water-soluble, suitable for dusting the feed / feed animals.
One level measuring spoon (enclosed) corresponds to 1 g NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+.
This supplementary feed may only be fed to reptiles up to 5 % of the daily ration due to the higher content of trace elements compared to complete feeds.

500 mg iron (iron(II) sulphate, monohydrate), 492 mg zinc (zinc sulphate, monohydrate), 250 mg manganese (manganese(II) sulphate, monohydrate), 145 mg copper (copper(II) sulphate, pentahydrate), 20 mg iodine (calcium iodate, anhydrous), 16 mg selenium (sodium selenite).One of the most important supplements is calcium, which is very important not only for eggshell and bone formation, but also for other vital processes (such as muscle contractions). The calcium content in the feed is usually very low. Especially the feed insects lead to a calcium deficiency without supplementation. As the animals also consume additional calcium in the wild, this must also be offered in the terrarium. Females and growing animals in particular have a higher calcium requirement.
Reptiles and amphibians need vitamin D so that calcium can be utilized by the body. This can be supplied via appropriate supplements or can be produced by the animal in the skin with the help of UVB radiation.
No additional vitamin D needs to be administered via food if the animal is offered the right quantity and quality of UVB radiation. If healthy animals are exposed to sufficient UVB radiation, vitamin D deficiency does not usually occur. A precursor of vitamin D3 is formed in the skin under the influence of sunlight (or UVB radiation) and heat from vitamin precursors ingested with food (these are mainly found in muscle and fatty tissue of food animals and plants). This is then converted into the active form of vitamin D3 in the kidney tissue. The required amount of UVB radiation (intensity, duration of illumination) depends on the animal species.
Desert-dwelling species, for example, require significantly higher amounts of UVB radiation.
With a sufficient supply of vitamin D, optimal calcium absorption in the digestive tract can be expected.
